Two-day programme brings together around 30 physicians for expert sessions, practical demonstrations and hands-on learning in Ayurvedic management of skin disorders
UJJAIN, MADHYA PRADESH: A two-day advanced training programme on Twak Roga (Ayurvedic dermatology) concluded successfully at the Government Dhanwantri Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Ujjain on Saturday, with around 30 physicians from different parts of the country participating in the specialised academic programme.
Organised by the National Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, New Delhi, the training programme was conducted on September 25 and 26, 2026, with a focus on strengthening the clinical understanding and practical skills of Ayurveda practitioners dealing with skin disorders.
The programme combined expert lectures with hands-on sessions, giving participating physicians an opportunity to connect classical Ayurvedic concepts with contemporary clinical practice.

Focus on Practical Dermatology
The inaugural session on the first day was attended by Dr. Vinod Bairagi as the chief guest, while Dr. Mukesh Gupta, Medical Superintendent, presided over the programme. National Ayurveda Guru Dr. S.N. Pandey and Dr. Shivanand Patil, Assistant Professor, AIIA Goa, were present as distinguished guests.
Dr. Shivanand Patil conducted an expert session on “Clinical Trumps in Dermatology: Case-Driven Strategic [Approach] for Everyday Practice,” focusing on practical clinical decision-making through case-based learning.
The lecture was followed by a hands-on training session designed to give participants direct exposure to practical aspects of dermatological assessment and management.
Another important session was delivered by Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav on “Management of Common Skin Disorders Through Ayurveda – A Practical Approach for Practitioners.” The session addressed the practical application of Ayurvedic approaches in managing commonly encountered skin conditions.
Classical Knowledge Meets Clinical Application
The second day expanded the programme’s academic focus to Ayurvedic dermatology, treatment protocols and therapeutic procedures.
Dr. Yogesh Wane conducted a session on “Basics of Ayurvedic Dermatology with Treatment Protocol and Procedure,” covering fundamental concepts of Ayurvedic skin-disease management along with treatment protocols and procedures. A corresponding hands-on training session was also conducted for the participating doctors.
The programme also featured an expert presentation by Dr. S.N. Pandey on “Ayurvedic Management of Shwitra (Vitiligo): A Classical and Evidence-Based Approach.” The session examined the Ayurvedic management of vitiligo from both classical and evidence-based perspectives.
Emphasis on Skill Development
Throughout the two-day programme, participants were exposed to different dimensions of Ayurvedic dermatology, including clinical assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic protocols and practical procedures.
The organisers placed particular emphasis on the combination of expert-led academic sessions and hands-on training, enabling physicians to strengthen their clinical skills rather than limiting the programme to theoretical learning.
Senior Faculty and Officials Attend Valedictory Session
The valedictory and concluding ceremony was attended by former college principal Dr. J.P. Chaurasia, along with Dr. S.N. Pandey, Dr. Siddheshwar Satua, Dr. Ajaykirti Jain, Dr. Nripendra Mishra, Dr. Sunita D. Ram, Dr. Vandana Sarraf, Dr. Mukesh Gupta, Dr. Santram Kumawat, Dr. Hemant Malviya, Dr. Kirtiwala Tawde and Dr. Sudhir Chauhan, besides other college officials and staff members.
The guests described the training initiative as a useful academic platform for enhancing the knowledge and clinical capabilities of participating physicians. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening the practical application of Ayurveda in the field of skin disorders.
The valedictory session was conducted as scheduled from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
Coordinated Academic Initiative
The overall coordination and conduct of the programme was handled by Dr. Yogesh Wane, in-charge of the Skin Disease Unit functioning under the Rachana Sharir Department of the college.
Representing the National Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, New Delhi, Dr. Garima Singh and Dr. Manisha Rani were responsible for programme coordination. The organisers also acknowledged the valuable support extended by Dr. Vikas Gupta.
The successful completion of the programme was attributed to the coordinated efforts of the Government Dhanwantri Ayurvedic Medical College, Ujjain, and the National Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.
A Platform for Clinical Learning
The training programme provided participating physicians with an opportunity to learn directly from experienced experts about the Ayurvedic management of Twak Roga, treatment protocols, therapeutic procedures and practical clinical approaches.
According to the information provided by Dr. Prakash Joshi, Media In-charge of the college and Associate Professor and in-charge of the Rachana Sharir Department, the initiative was aimed at enhancing the professional knowledge and practical capabilities of Ayurveda practitioners working in the field of dermatology.
The programme reflects a broader academic emphasis on strengthening the bridge between Ayurvedic principles, structured treatment protocols and practical clinical training in the management of skin disorders.
