Festival to Showcase Films on Responsible Citizenship, Social Participation and Positive Change
Ujjain, September 29. The official poster of the Ujjaini Short Film Festival 2026, a joint initiative of Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Malwa and Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana, was unveiled at Vikram University on Monday in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arpan Bhardwaj and Registrar Dr. Anil Sharma.
The two-day festival, scheduled to be held in Ujjain on October 24 and 25, 2026, will focus on the role of citizens in building a responsible and progressive society.
‘Many Newtons in the Crowd’ — This Year’s Theme
The theme of this year’s festival is “Many Newtons in the Crowd”, built around the broader concept of “Shaping a New Bharat through Civic Duties.”

Through cinema and digital storytelling, the festival aims to highlight stories of civic responsibility, social participation and constructive change. Films dealing with responsible citizenship, public responsibility, traffic discipline, cleanliness, social cooperation, constitutional values, community initiatives and citizen-led solutions to local problems will receive a platform at the event.
The organisers said the festival seeks to encourage filmmakers, particularly young creators, to explore issues that directly affect everyday life and demonstrate how individual actions can contribute to wider social change.
Four Categories Open for Entries
The festival has invited entries in four categories:
- Short Films
- AI Films
- Ad Films
- Micro Drama
In addition to film screenings and competitions, the festival will also feature master classes conducted by film experts. These sessions are intended to provide young filmmakers and aspiring creators with an opportunity to learn about filmmaking, storytelling and the creative process from professionals in the field.
Cinema Can Strengthen Social Awareness
Speaking at the poster launch, Prof. Arpan Bhardwaj, Vice-Chancellor of Vikram University, said cinema is not only a reflection of society but also a powerful medium for communicating issues of public interest.
He noted that initiatives of this nature can help young people understand civic duties, social cooperation and constitutional values while giving them an opportunity to express their ideas creatively.
Registrar Dr. Anil Sharma encouraged young filmmakers to use their creative abilities to bring forward positive stories from society and present issues related to civic responsibility in an engaging manner.
Academic and Media Representatives Attend
The poster unveiling programme was attended by Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma, Director of the School of Continuing Education Studies, Govind Sharma, Head of Social Media, members of the publicity team and senior faculty members.
The organisers expect the 2026 edition of the Ujjaini Short Film Festival to provide a creative platform for filmmakers while encouraging meaningful conversations around citizenship, community participation and the responsibilities of individuals towards society.
