The initiative is intended to broaden the educational options available to families in the region. Its long-term contribution will depend on the completion of construction, the availability of academic facilities, admission arrangements and the quality of education delivered.

Lok Sabha MP Anil Firojiya also spoke about Vidya Bharati’s contribution to education, emphasising the importance of character development, ethical values, discipline and the overall growth of students. He shared his own experiences of studying at a Saraswati Shishu Mandir.

Several dignitaries attended the foundation-laying ceremony, including Vidya Bharati regional organising secretary Akhilesh Mishra, Sant Shyam Giri Maharaj, Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, Housing Board chairman Om Jain, Ujjain Development Authority chairman Ravi Solanki, Simhastha Development Authority chairman Jagdish Agrawal, and representatives of the Manav Bal Kalyan Samiti.

Madhya Pradesh Announces Statewide Dussehra Shastra Pujan Programmes

Chief Minister to perform traditional weapons worship in Indore on October 20; ministers assigned to districts across the state

(SDNA) Bhopal/Indore: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced plans to organise Shastra Pujan ceremonies across various districts on the occasion of Vijayadashami, bringing a traditional Dussehra observance into the state’s official programme.

According to the government announcement, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will perform Shastra Pujan in Indore on October 20. Cabinet ministers and other designated public representatives will participate in ceremonies organised in their respective districts.

The state government has described the tradition as a symbol of strength, courage, self-defence and respect for national security. The ceremonies are also intended to highlight the responsible use of power and the resolve to stand against injustice.

In traditional religious narratives, the worship of weapons is associated with the broader symbolism of Vijayadashami and the victory of good over evil.

Who Will Perform Shastra Pujan in Which District?

Under the programme announced by the state government, key assignments include:

  • Indore: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav
  • Gwalior: Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar
  • Mandsaur: Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda
  • Rewa: Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla
  • Dhar: Kailash Vijayvargiya
  • Jabalpur: Rakesh Singh
  • Bhopal: Vishwas Kailash Sarang
  • Dewas: Tulsiram Silawat
  • Khandwa: Kunwar Vijay Shah
  • Narsinghpur: Prahlad Singh Patel
  • Sehore: Karan Singh Verma

Other ministers and ministers of state have also been assigned responsibilities in districts including Sagar, Datia, Mandla, Jhabua, Morena and Narmadapuram, among others.

In districts where ministers will not be present, the respective district collectors and superintendents of police will oversee the programmes. Local public representatives are to be invited, while citizens have also been encouraged to observe the tradition of Shastra Pujan at their homes in accordance with customary practices.

Education and Cultural Traditions Feature in the Government’s Agenda

The Mahakalpuram foundation ceremony in Ujjain and the statewide Shastra Pujan programme represent two distinct government initiatives: one focused on expanding educational infrastructure and the other on observing a traditional cultural practice.

The Mahakalpuram project is expected to create additional educational opportunities, with the proposed CBSE curriculum forming an important part of its plan. Its actual impact will be determined by the facilities developed, the standard of teaching and the opportunities made available to students.

Meanwhile, the Dussehra ceremonies will place emphasis on cultural continuity, responsible strength and public participation in traditional observances.

SDNA Perspective: Implementation Will Determine the Impact

Announcements and ceremonial launches mark the beginning of public initiatives, but their lasting value depends on what follows.

For Mahakalpuram, the key measures of success will include timely construction, educational quality, transparent admissions and meaningful benefits for students and families.

For the statewide Shastra Pujan programme, implementation will be reflected in the organisation of the ceremonies in accordance with the government’s announced schedule.

Both initiatives will ultimately be assessed by their execution, public participation and tangible outcomes.
