Bhopal Congress Burns Effigy of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Dussehra Over Alleged ‘Vote Theft’

District Congress Committee stages symbolic protest, raising concerns over electoral fairness and transparency; several party office-bearers and leaders participate

(SDNA) BHOPAL, MADHYA PRADESH: The District Congress Committee, Bhopal City, organised a symbolic protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on the occasion of Dussehra, burning an effigy depicting him as Ravana. Through the demonstration, Congress leaders expressed their opposition over what they described as alleged “vote theft” and raised questions about the fairness of the electoral process.

Using the traditional symbolism of Ravana Dahan associated with Dussehra, the party sought to draw public attention to concerns surrounding electoral transparency and the protection of voting rights. The protest served as a political expression of the Congress party’s objections to alleged irregularities in the electoral system.

The demonstration brought the issue of electoral accountability back into the public debate, with Congress leaders seeking greater scrutiny of the processes governing elections.

Senior Congress Functionaries Join the Demonstration

Several party office-bearers and leaders participated in the protest organised under the leadership of the District Congress Committee, Bhopal City.

Those present included District Congress Committee president Praveen Saxena, Madhya Pradesh Congress general secretary Amit Sharma, state Congress secretary Rajkumar Singh and organisational general secretary Abhishek Sharma. Former district president of the Mahila Congress, Santosh Kansana, also attended the programme.

The gathering focused on registering the party’s opposition to the alleged “vote theft” issue and highlighting its concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.

Electoral Transparency Remains at the Centre of the Debate

By linking its protest to the symbolism of Dussehra, the Congress sought to give its political message a prominent public platform. The demonstration reflected the party’s demand for accountability and transparency in matters relating to elections and voting rights.

However, the allegations of vote theft remain claims that must be assessed against verifiable evidence and relevant official findings. The protest itself does not establish whether electoral wrongdoing occurred.

(SDNA) BHOPAL: The Dussehra demonstration has once again brought electoral transparency into political discussion in Madhya Pradesh. The wider debate centres on the importance of credible elections, public confidence in democratic institutions and the need to examine allegations through evidence-based scrutiny.
