Traditional Dussehra procession draws an atmosphere of devotion and celebration; Jai Mahakal Contractors and Workers Union organises a special welcome for the deity
(SDNA) Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh: Chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jai Shri Mahakal’ filled the air in Ujjain’s Freeganj area as devotees accorded a grand welcome to Baba Mahakal during the traditional Dussehra procession through the city’s newer areas. The occasion witnessed an outpouring of faith, enthusiasm and spiritual fervour, as devotees gathered to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
As the procession arrived in Freeganj, members of the Jai Mahakal Contractors and Workers Union had arranged a special welcome platform to honour Baba Mahakal. Devotees showered flowers on the procession, creating a vibrant and devotional spectacle.
The resounding chants of Lord Shiva’s name transformed the surrounding area into a spiritual gathering place. Devotees bowed before Baba Mahakal and offered prayers for happiness, prosperity, peace and well-being.

Members of the union actively participated in the welcome programme. Those present included Lalchand Jatwa, Raju Yogi, Yashwant Kethwas, Pankaj Tomar, Uttam Meshram, Nanuram, Chhotelal and Karan Mehar, along with other members.
At the conclusion of the programme, prasad was distributed among devotees as a gesture of devotion and community participation.
The celebration reflected Ujjain’s deep-rooted spiritual traditions and the enduring devotion of its people towards Baba Mahakal. The flower shower, devotional chants and collective participation made the Dussehra welcome a memorable expression of faith in the city renowned for its association with Lord Shiva.
