This year, communities and institutions across the United States are preparing to mark the festival through cultural programmes, temple celebrations and special gatherings.

Adding a musical dimension to the festivities, Brentwood School in California is set to host its first-ever Diwali celebration, featuring a special presentation of traditional Indian classical music. The programme will bring together two distinguished artists from the Indian classical music tradition: Grammy-nominated maestro Aloke Dasgupta and eminent Los Angeles-based vocalist Sanjukta Dasgupta.
