Action Against Youth Congress Leaders Exposes Internal Rift Within Party: Vishwas Sarang

Congress’ November 1 programme failed to attract expected public support; Sarang accuses Nehru family of treating the party as personal property

Bhopal, November 4, 2026: Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang has launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party’s programme held on November 1 failed to meet expectations and did not receive the anticipated public response. He said the subsequent action against Youth Congress office-bearers had brought the organisation’s internal problems into focus.

Questioning the party’s response to its young leaders, Sarang asked why the Congress was taking action against its own youth representatives instead of addressing their grievances. He claimed that Youth Congress office-bearers did not even attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Delhi, describing the development as an indication of the growing disconnect between the party leadership and its young workforce.

Action Instead of Dialogue, Sarang Alleges

According to Sarang, the dissatisfaction among Youth Congress representatives and the disciplinary action taken against them point towards an alleged lack of space for dissent within the party. He claimed that resentment among young Congress members was growing over Rahul Gandhi’s political approach and working style.

He further said that today’s youth are looking beyond a politics dominated by accusations and confrontation. They want constructive thinking, development-oriented initiatives and opportunities to move forward, he added.

Nehru Family Accused of Treating Congress as Personal Property

Targeting the Congress’ organisational functioning, Sarang alleged that the Nehru family’s dominance and rigid political approach had influenced the party for a long time. He claimed that the organisation was being run like a family-owned property.

According to him, whenever a party worker or office-bearer attempts to express a different opinion, their concerns are allegedly ignored and steps are taken to push them out of the organisation rather than engage in dialogue.

Family Given Priority Over Organisation, Claims Sarang

Sarang alleged that the Congress gives greater importance to one family than to its organisation and grassroots workers. He said that although the party leadership frequently speaks about democratic values, it is allegedly unwilling to listen to the voices of its own members.

He described the action against Youth Congress office-bearers as a reflection of this approach.

Congress Must Address Concerns of Young Leaders

Advising the Congress leadership to introspect, Sarang said the party must examine why its own youth representatives are distancing themselves from leadership programmes. Merely invoking the name of young people in political speeches would not be enough to secure their support, he said.

He emphasised that the party must respect the opinions, expectations and concerns of its young members if it genuinely seeks their participation and support.
