Uddhav Says ‘Enough of Character Assassination’; Denies Any Connection to the Case and Calls for an Impartial Investigation by Agencies
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:(SDNA) The death of Disha Salian has once again become a subject of political debate in Maharashtra. Following the registration of an FIR by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has strongly responded to allegations linking him and his son Aaditya Thackeray to the case. Thackeray described the allegations as an attempt at “character assassination” and said that he would consider legal action if such allegations continued.
‘Enough Is Enough, I Will Take Legal Action’
During an interaction with journalists in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Uddhav Thackeray expressed his displeasure when asked about the Disha Salian case. He said that neither he nor his family had any connection with the matter and alleged that repeated attempts were being made to associate his family’s name with the case.
Thackeray said that if such a campaign continued, he would be compelled to pursue legal action.
‘I Did Not Even Know Disha’
Uddhav Thackeray said that he did not know Disha Salian and had never met her. He denied any connection between his family and the incident.
He also said that investigative agencies should be allowed to conduct their inquiry and that a person’s reputation should not be targeted on the basis of allegations before the investigation is completed.
Aaditya Thackeray Has Also Denied the Allegations
Aaditya Thackeray has previously denied knowing or meeting Disha Salian. He has said that attempts have been made for several years to associate his name with the case without evidence or any connection. He has also called for a fresh and impartial investigation by the agencies.
Political Debate Intensifies After CBI FIR
The CBI registered an FIR following a Bombay High Court direction for a fresh investigation into Disha Salian’s death. Reports indicate that the FIR contains allegations relating to serious offences and lists several individuals whose roles are to be investigated. However, reporting by The Times of India notes that no individual has been named as an accused in the FIR; names appearing in the complaint and statement are allegations that investigators must examine.
The High Court has also indicated that a person should not be treated as an accused unless sufficient material emerges during the investigation.
The Truth Will Emerge Through the Investigation
The CBI investigation will now examine available police records, medical and other evidence, and statements from relevant people. The actual status of the allegations will become clearer as the investigation progresses.
For now, Uddhav Thackeray has rejected allegations linking his family to the case and indicated that continued allegations could lead to legal proceedings.
