New Delhi. (SDNA) Inflation, which has affected everything from food and beverages to petrol and diesel, is now being felt in air travel as well. IndiGo has increased the charges for several additional services related to domestic flights. These include infant tickets, excess baggage, priority check-in and boarding, and fees for children travelling alone.
Infant Ticket Charges Increased
The airline has increased the infant fee for children aged between three days and two years. For online bookings, the charge has been increased from ₹2,000 to ₹2,250. For bookings made at the airport counter, the fee has gone up from ₹2,500 to ₹3,000.
Infants are not provided with a separate seat on the aircraft and travel on their parent or guardian’s lap.
Excess Baggage Becomes More Expensive
The airline has also revised its excess baggage charges. The fee for additional baggage above 15 kg will now be ₹800 per baggage, compared with ₹700 earlier.
Priority Check-in and Boarding Charges Hiked
The charges for priority check-in and boarding have also been increased. The fee has risen from ₹450 to ₹650. In addition, the charge for an unaccompanied child travelling alone has also been increased and is reported to be ₹999 per ticket.
Travel Certificate Also Costs More
IndiGo has also increased the fee for a travel certificate by ₹100. Passengers will therefore have to pay more than before for this service.
The airline’s revised charges are likely to particularly affect passengers travelling with children, carrying excess baggage or opting for priority services. According to reports, some other airlines are also considering changes to charges for selected services.
