Indore, September 26, 2026: The Food Safety Administration conducted inspections at several food establishments in and around the bus stand area of Indore as part of an ongoing drive to check food quality, hygiene and compliance with prescribed safety standards.
During the inspections, officials found deficiencies related to mandatory documents and food safety practices at several establishments. The department collected eight food samples from different premises for laboratory examination.
The inspection drive was carried out under the direction of the Commissioner and Controller of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Madhya Pradesh, and under the guidance of Indore Collector Shivam Verma.
Compliance Gaps Found at Indian Bhojanalaya
Officials inspected Bhartiya Bhojanalaya in South Tukoganj in the presence of its representative Mayank Pandey.
During the inspection, documents including medical certificates of food handlers, pest-control certification, food testing reports and water testing reports were not available at the premises.
The department is initiating the process of issuing an improvement notice to the establishment, directing it to address the deficiencies.
Two Samples Collected from Sai Prasad Dining Hall
A separate inspection was conducted at Sai Prasad Dining Hall and Restaurant in Rani Sarai, South Tukoganj.
Officials found that medical certificates of food workers, pest-control documentation, food testing reports and water testing reports were not available for verification. The inspection team also noted deficiencies in the proper storage and handling of raw food materials, while the food supervisor training certificate was also not available at the premises.
In the presence of Mayank Upadhyay, officials collected samples of chilli powder and turmeric powder. The samples are being sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for examination.
Bread Found Placed on Newspaper at Neelkanth Bhojanalaya
The department also inspected Neelkanth Bhojanalaya at Rani Sarai. Medical certificates of food handlers and the water testing report were not available during the inspection.
Officials also observed that prepared rotis were being placed directly on newspaper, raising concerns regarding food-handling practices. The department has initiated the process of issuing a notice over the deficiencies.
In the presence of Anand Rawal, the inspection team collected samples of paneer and rice for quality testing. These samples will also be forwarded to the State Food Testing Laboratory, Bhopal.
Four Samples Taken from JK Traders
The inspection drive also covered JK Traders in Sindhi Colony. Officials collected four samples from the establishment, including soybean oil, sesame oil, moong dal and toor dal.
All four samples have been sent for quality assessment at the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal.
Further Action to Follow Laboratory Reports
The Food Safety Administration said that further action will be taken in accordance with applicable regulations after the laboratory reports of all eight samples are received.
Officials also stated that inspections and sample collection will continue to ensure compliance with prescribed standards relating to food quality, hygiene and safety at food establishments across the city.
