Indore, September 26, 2026: Madhya Pradesh is strengthening its industrial ecosystem by focusing on key infrastructure requirements such as reliable power supply, water availability, industrial land and the development of new industrial zones, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said on Saturday.
Addressing industrialists at the launch of the Indore chapter of the Hindu Economic Forum at Hotel Sheraton in Indore, the Chief Minister outlined the state government’s priorities for promoting investment, entrepreneurship and employment under the theme “Arth Abhyudaya.”
Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh currently has sufficient electricity capacity to meet the requirements of industries and also possesses a substantial land bank for future industrial development. He highlighted the government’s efforts to make better use of water resources and explore solar power generation through panels installed over water bodies.
The Chief Minister said the state was simultaneously working on strengthening other energy resources linked to water and expanding infrastructure to support industrial growth.
Focus on Emerging Sectors
According to the Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh is not limiting its development strategy to traditional industries and is also exploring opportunities in emerging sectors.
He said the government is promoting religious tourism while also working to expand the state’s potential in medical tourism. Increased industrial and entrepreneurial activity, he noted, can contribute significantly to economic expansion and create additional employment opportunities.
Per Capita Income Shows Significant Growth
Highlighting the state’s economic progress, Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh’s per capita income, which was around ₹11,000 in 2002-03, had increased to approximately ₹1.40 lakh by 2022 and reached nearly ₹1.67 lakh in 2026.
He said that a period of 10 to 12 years can bring substantial economic transformation when development initiatives are implemented with consistency. Referring to India’s broader economic growth, he credited the country’s accelerated development trajectory under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Government Seeks to Convert MoUs into Ground-Level Projects
The Chief Minister also spoke about the implementation of investment commitments made through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Madhya Pradesh.
He said the government was working to ensure that investment proposals move beyond announcements and translate into projects on the ground. Creating a supportive business environment and generating employment opportunities, he said, remain important priorities.
Dr. Yadav emphasised that continued coordination between the government and the industrial sector would be important for attracting investments and developing new avenues of employment across the state.
India’s Growth and Expanding Global Trade
Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India, V. Anantha Nageswaran, also addressed the gathering and spoke about India’s economic trajectory.
He referred to India’s current growth rate of 7.8 per cent and said the country’s economic expansion could gain further momentum in the coming years. He also highlighted India’s expanding foreign trade and its growing role in the global economy.
Forum chief Vijnananand also addressed the gathering. A documentary showcasing activities associated with the World Hindu Congress was screened during the programme.
The event also highlighted the history of the World Hindu Congress, with its previous editions held in New Delhi in 2014, Chicago in 2018 and Bangkok in 2023. The fourth edition has been proposed to be held in Mumbai from December 18 to 20, 2026.
Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, MLA Golu Shukla, Sumit Mishra, Divisional Commissioner Bhaskar Lakshakar, Police Commissioner Santosh Singh, Collector Shivam Verma, Additional Collector Rinkesh Vaishya, along with industrialists and other prominent citizens, attended the programme.
