Nawada, September 29, 2026 (SDNA): A family celebration in Bihar’s Nawada district turned tragic after a dispute during a DJ programme allegedly led to a knife attack, leaving three brothers injured. One of them later died during treatment, while the other two remain hospitalized.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday night in Devanpura village under the Kadirganj police station area during a family function organised to mark the Chhathi ceremony following the birth of a girl.
Argument During DJ Programme Escalates
According to the family, music and dancing were underway during the celebration when an argument reportedly broke out after a young man continued dancing for a long time. Family members allegedly asked him to have food before continuing to dance.

The disagreement reportedly escalated, following which one person allegedly attacked Sandeep Kumar with a sharp-edged weapon.
When Sandeep’s two brothers intervened, they were also allegedly attacked.
One Brother Succumbs to Injuries
All three injured brothers were initially taken to Nawada Sadar Hospital. Due to the seriousness of their injuries, they were referred for further medical treatment.
Sandeep Kumar, son of Bhola Manjhi and a resident of Devanpura village, later died while undergoing treatment in Patna.
His brothers Suraj Kumar and Pradeep Manjhi also suffered serious injuries and are receiving medical treatment.
Five Arrested, Police Begin Investigation
The incident has left the family and local residents shocked, while tension was reported in the area following the attack.
Police have reportedly arrested five people in connection with the incident. After the post-mortem examination, Sandeep Kumar’s body was handed over to his family.
Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the confrontation and the alleged role of each of the arrested persons. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
The incident has once again highlighted how a dispute during a family celebration can rapidly escalate into serious violence.
