‘Krantiveer Shaheed Saadat Khan Mewati Gaurav Samman-2026’ to be held at Abhinav Kala Samaj on October 1
Indore (SDNA): A special commemorative programme honouring the legacy of Krantiveer Shaheed Saadat Khan Mewati, who fought against British rule during the 1857 uprising, will be organised in Indore on October 1.
The ‘Krantiveer Shaheed Saadat Khan Mewati Gaurav Samman Samaroh-2026’ will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm at Abhinav Kala Samaj, Gandhi Hall premises. The programme is being organised by the MEO Educational Welfare Awareness Trust, Indore.
The event will combine remembrance with recognition, with personalities from education, history, administration, social service, human rights, arts and other fields being felicitated for their contributions.

Remembering a chapter of the 1857 uprising
According to organisers Shamsuddin Chishti, Advocate Sharib Khan and Abdul Hafeez Banarasi, the programme has been conceived to remember Saadat Khan Mewati’s sacrifice while connecting younger generations with the history of resistance, social responsibility and public service.
During the 1857 uprising, Saadat Khan Mewati played a significant role in the Indore-Mhow region in opposing British rule. According to the organisers, he was subsequently arrested and executed in Indore on October 1, 1874.
The organisers said that October 1 is observed every year to remember his contribution and sacrifice.
Achievers from multiple fields to receive honours
The Saadat Khan Mewati Gaurav Samman-2026 will recognise individuals who have made notable contributions in areas including education, history, administration, social work, human rights, art and community development.
Former MLA and former secretary Satyanarayan Patel, Shoaib Akhtar, IES, from Mewat, and Shaukat Ali, retired RAS, are scheduled to attend the programme as chief guests.
Among the personalities from the Mewat region listed for special recognition are Dr. Siddiq Ahmed, a noted historian and author of 15 books; Noor Ahmed, AMIED secretary and social worker; Dr. Jaideep Singh Chauhan; engineer Nehru Khan, who was honoured by former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam; comedian Akhtar Hindustani; human-rights activist and women’s social reformer Saba Khan; Haji Habib Khan of Chhoti Mewat, Dewas; Shamsher Khan Mew of Chhoti Mewat, Dewas; and blood-donation ambassador Jagpreet Singh Tuteja.
Organisers call for a message beyond remembrance
The organisers said the sacrifices of freedom fighters should not remain confined to history books. They said remembering their struggles should encourage present generations to work for education, social unity, public service, brotherhood and constructive community initiatives.
The MEO Educational Welfare Awareness Trust has invited young people, social workers, intellectuals, members of the Mewati community and citizens from all sections of society to attend the programme.
The event carries the message:
“Salute to the martyr’s sacrifice, respect for history—and a legacy for the new generation.”
