Jabalpur Collector orders close monitoring of civic projects
Meanwhile, Jabalpur Collector Raghvendra Singh directed officials of the district’s urban local bodies to ensure that ongoing construction and development projects are completed within prescribed timelines. The district administration’s official website currently lists Singh as the Collector and District Magistrate of Jabalpur.
The directions were issued during a review meeting covering the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, municipalities in Sihora and Panagar, and other municipal councils across the district.
The Collector stressed regular field-level monitoring and adherence to construction quality standards. Additional Collector Ravishankar Rai, Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Kamlesh Shrivastava, the Project Officer of the District Urban Development Agency and Chief Municipal Officers of various urban bodies attended the meeting.
Amrut 2.0 projects under review
The Collector reviewed projects being implemented under AMRUT 2.0 and instructed officials to accelerate works that are currently in progress.
He also reviewed the development and maintenance of parks created under green-area initiatives and directed that pending works be completed within the stipulated period.
While examining the restoration of water bodies, Singh instructed officials to ensure that ponds retain their original character while restoration and development works are undertaken.
Water supply projects and road restoration get priority
The progress of drinking water supply schemes was also examined during the meeting.
The Collector directed officials to speed up pipeline-laying works and suggested that, wherever necessary, work along major roads should be undertaken at night to minimise disruption to traffic.
He further ordered proper restoration of roads after excavation for pipeline installation.
Progress under the Shahpura-Bhitoni Water Supply Scheme and the Bareli-Narmada River Water Supply Scheme was also reviewed.
Housing scheme implementation to be monitored
The Collector directed officials to maintain regular oversight of houses being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
He instructed officials to closely monitor beneficiaries who have already received funds for construction. Where funds have been released but construction has not been undertaken, recovery proceedings, including issuance of Revenue Recovery Certificates (RRCs), should be initiated according to applicable rules.
The meeting also reviewed the status of housing construction and application verification under the first and second phases of the housing programme.
Urban Challenge Fund and lease distribution reviewed
Officials briefed the meeting on the Urban Challenge Fund, including provisions related to mobilising market-based resources for urban development and the fund’s operational framework.
The Collector directed officials to expedite distribution of leases under the Dharanadhikar Yojana in urban areas. He instructed that approved beneficiary lists be uploaded on the RCMS portal so that the lease-distribution process could be completed promptly.
Revenue collection from municipal shops and other properties was also reviewed. Officials were instructed to issue notices to major defaulters and initiate recovery proceedings as per rules.
Waste management and cleanliness receive special focus
The meeting also examined sanitation and solid-waste management arrangements.
The Collector emphasised smooth waste processing at the waste-to-energy plant and called for sustained public awareness campaigns and workshops to promote segregation of waste at source.
Urban local body officials were also directed to conduct regular inspections of dumping sites and strengthen monitoring of the overall sanitation system.
The combined focus on agricultural price support, public-service outreach and urban infrastructure reflects a broad administrative emphasis on farmer welfare, citizen engagement and timely execution of development works across Madhya Pradesh.
